Story of the Month: Seeking Fortune - Emigration to America

Between 1850 and 1920, approximately 300,000 Danes emigrated to America to start a new life. Most traveled with hopes of freedom, happiness, and prosperity. Many left poverty and lack of land in Denmark for the promise of free farmland in America. In July, we share the story of these emigrants, many from Vendelbo, who left everything behind in pursuit of a better life.
