Hazelius Hedin – Swedish folk music at its finest Johan Hedin and Esbjörn Hazelius are among Sweden's leading folk musicians. As the duo Hazelius Hedin, they have for nearly 14 years delighted audiences with their close interplay, strong musicianship, and personal interpretations of Swedish folk songs and dance melodies. With nyckelharpa, cittern, guitar, and violino d’amore – along with Esbjörn Hazelius’ warm singing voice – the duo creates a unique musical universe where ancient traditions meet the present. Their repertoire is broad, encompassing everything from medieval ballads, old songs, and dance melodies from the 17th and 18th centuries to newer compositions. A common thread is their respect for the Swedish folk music tradition and their ability to breathe new life into it.
