Exhibition Quick Tour: Ovartaci

Join a brief guided tour of Ovartaci – I started as a paradise bird and experience one of Danish art history's most unique artistic oeuvres.

In approximately 25 minutes, we open the story of Ovartaci, who created a unique artistic universe over more than six decades under exceptional life conditions. Through paintings, sculptures, and drawings, you will encounter a fabulous and surreal visual language populated by peculiar beings, elongated female figures, and dreamlike narratives. At the same time, you will receive an introduction to an artist for whom art was not merely an expression but the very reality she lived in. The exhibition offers insight into a life’s work where art and biography are inseparably linked, and where themes such as freedom, identity, and the longing to be accepted continue to resonate strongly with us today.
