Wine & Knowledge: How Spaces Shape Us
What effect does a space have on us? How do architecture, materials, and sensory impressions influence the way we think, feel, and move—often without us noticing?
In this edition of Wine & Knowledge, two researchers from Aalborg University explore the interplay between architecture, the brain, and the body. Through two distinct perspectives, they examine how our surroundings shape our experience of the world and ourselves. Hidden Effects: Our Unconscious Mind in Architecture How does architecture influence our thoughts, feelings, and behavior—often without our conscious awareness? Drawing on cognitive neuroscience and Virtual Reality, Zakaria Djebbara provides insight into how spatial structures shape our perception. He argues that architecture is not only the framework of our lives but also a technology that actively affects how we experience the world. Slow, Flow, and Love How are the brain, body, and emotions connected? Tatiana Chemi invites the audience on a journey through the concepts of slow, flow, and love. Using art-based methods, she explores how emotions, materiality, and sensory experiences contribute to our understanding of ourselves and the world—and how knowledge can also arise through what we feel and experience.
